In 2020, I worked with a team of several colleagues to synthesize the contributions of the IES funded Reading for Understanding Initiative that produced 300+ publications over the period extending from 2010-2019 concerning comprehension development, assessment, and pedagogy. This synthesis summarizes and contextualizes that effort. Once you get to the link on the National Academy of Education site, you can download the entire report to any of the six chapters in it.
